BEST BUTTERPLÄTZCHEN RECIPE -GERMAN CHRISTMAS COOKIES
“Butterplätzchen” translate to little butter Christmas cookies, a German classic made with only 5 ingredients. They are less sweet than sugar cookies and the high butter content gives them their typical irresistible melt in your mouth consistency. Enjoy them lightly golden brown and plain or decorated with a simple lemon glaze and colourful sprinkles!
VANILLEKIPFERL – GERMAN VANILLA ALMOND CRESCENT COOKIES
“Vanillekipferl” are delicate and buttery German Christmas Cookies made with ground almonds, dusted in vanilla- scented icing sugar and shaped into little “Kipferl” which translates to “crescent” or “croissant” in English. They are easy to make and a must have cookie for your selection of homemade Christmas cookies!
GERMAN ELISENLEBKUCHEN RECIPE
“Lebkuchen” are like the German version of gingerbread and a very popular treat during Christmas time. “Elisenlebkuchen” are soft and chewy, filled with all the goodness of nuts, candied citrus and warm spices. They are baked on thin, flavourless, edible wafer paper called “Oblaten”, covered in dark chocolate and decorated with almonds.

BRATÄPFEL - GERMAN BAKED APPLES WITH MARZIPAN APRICOT FILLING
“Bratäpfel” are tart baked apples, filled with a sweet marzipan apricot filling, topped with lightly roasted almonds and a sprinkle of cinnamon. This is one of my favourite warm and comforting desserts to make for the cold and dark season of the year.
ADVENT CALENDAR WITH DRIFTWOOD
Turn your drift wood treasures into a reusable advent calendar! Make a hanging advent calendar in shape of a Christmas tree with driftwood, twine, small pouches, ornaments and string lights you already own or decorate it in the theme you are going with this year. Just roll it up after the holidays and reuse it with different decorations for years to come!
HOMEMADE MARZIPAN FROM SCRATCH
Marzipan is a soft paste made from finely ground almonds, icing sugar, rosewater, and sometimes almond extract. It is a very popular treat in Germany, an ingredient for baking, easy to make from scratch, and absolutely delicious!
HOMEMADE VANILLA SUGAR
Easily make your own Vanilla sugar at home by adding vanilla beans and their seeds to a container of granulated sugar. The sugar will get saturated by the vanilla bean flavour over time. It has a fine warm vanilla flavour and is great to use for all kinds of Christmas baking, cakes, sprinkled on treats, in whipped cream or in your favourite hot drink.
NATURAL CACAO BUTTER LIP BALM
This natural cacao butter lip balm will keep your lips super soft and moisturized and has a pleasant slightly chocolatey smell from the use of natural cacao butter. It is easy and quickly made by melting only five ingredients and adds just the right amount of shine to your lips!
BEET BROWNIES WITH GINGER AND CINNAMON
These brownies are super fudgy and loaded with all the goodness of root vegetables. The earthiness of the beets enhances the flavour of chocolate and makes them a delicious and vegetable- packed treat without the crazy sugar overload of most regular brownies.
